Anyone know how to update a 365XD's BIOS without a battery?

I have tried hooking up a t43 battery to the battery connectors and while the system can boot without the ac adapter the bios update utility does not detect a battery. I have also tried the hex editor method, however the bios update files are different and so this does not work.
Does anyone know any methods that work?
