x230: Input lag on keyboard? Just asking

#1 Post by Txiasaeia » Mon Sep 10, 2012 6:57 pm

I'm in the market for a new Thinkpad. I loved my X31 and foolishly decided to go for the bigger T410 when I needed an upgrade, and I've been miserable with the T410's keyboard. More specifically, the input lag is horrendous, even after updated drivers and whatnot. On my home PC there's no lag: I press a button and it appears on the screen. On my T410, I type out a word and the screen lags enough for me to notice it. It throws me off my rhythm and is a huge PITA when I'm writing.

How about the X230? I like the smaller size and have no issues with the design but as I said I need a 100% lag-free keyboard. Tried to google for lag issues but couldn't find anything. Any thinkpaders out there who have both a T4xx series and the new X230 who can comment?

You either have a defective keyboard or a different issue on your T410. There is no lag on my T410 keyboard. It is not normal by any means.

I went ahead and ordered the x230 -- no lag whatsoever. Don't know what my T410's problem was, but this x230 is a dream. The new keyboard is -- gasp -- actually quite good! Easy to type and great feedback, and this is coming from somebody who still has an IBM Model M on his desk at home.
