I just ordered a refurbished W530 with i7, 16G ram, Nvidia k1000, 256 SSD. It's in grade A condition for $415. (good buy?)
I believe this machine is still pretty powerful even by 2017 standard is it?
I am interested in running Ubuntu through VirtualBox and I wonder how's the performance.
What's your recommendation to make the most out of my W530? I've been using a crappy laptop with Pentium processor, HDD, and only 4G of RAM for the last couple of years.
thanks

Ha, upgrading to that would be like giving your tired pentium a thing of redbull and steroids. That sucker will FLY! Its a great machine the W530. 415 doesnt sound like an ungodly price for one, actually quite reasonable for those specs.paulwece wrote:I just ordered a refurbished W530 with i7, 16G ram, Nvidia k1000, 256 SSD. Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.
The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.
