Fixing keys in "XYKBMS" config (X220 external keyboard)

#1 Post by Kocane » Mon Jul 14, 2025 8:48 am

I bought a couple of 3D printed cases along with the hardware needing to make them basically plug-and-play from Taobao (via Superbuy).

I really like the product and I think the quality is great, especially considering its a 3D print.

However, two of the keys on my danish keyboard simply do not register at all; the apostrophe and < > keys:

Since I got two of these keyboards and cases, I tried both of them and it's the same trouble.

I got the software to flash another config to it, and the current one I use looks like this.

Are there anyone here who knows how these configs work and perhaps what I must do to fix these two keys? I've tried emailing the seller, but so far he isn't get back to me.

This is the 'xy3dg12' / '3dg12' / 'xy_3dg12' USB conversion board I posted about here:

I'm also looking for how to customize the keyboard.

Yeah. In the meantime I figured out how to address the issue I had. If anyone has the same problem I'd be happy to help.

I've just plugged mine in for the first time today.

On my Mac, only the Alt and Control modifier keys are recognized.

Did you have to do anything to get all of the modifier keys working?

I'd have to test it out on my MacBook. I'm not home at the moment but I'll give it a go.

I didn't have any such issues on my Windows machine though, just the keys shown in the OP.

Hey, I have the same issue but with my windows key. Could you please share how you were able to change the configuration to work properly?
Thanks

Could you post the solution you found? To me it seems like a config/firmware issues.

Can you also post about the 3D part? I'd like to buy a case myself too.

I made a little guide using some software and files i found. I have not been able to test it yet but thought it might help someone. Original was in Chinese, and translations are rough.

Amazing work! I was trying to download the software from Baidu but seems not available anymore.

Questions: there are screenshots of the software with English texts - when I start it (Win11) its just garbled characters - not even Chinese. How did you get to the english version?

The "English Version" is just me running it through google translate lol. Just click the button in the right location using the English translation. It's not ideal, but it works.

I'm tempted to buy one of these as a backup/alternative to my SK-8855, and use it with my X61 keyboards.

Does anyone have a config that replicates most, if not all, of the Fn- key combos? From what I've heard, the stock firmware doesn't support sleep with Fn-F4, which is a common key combo I use. And remove NumLock mode.
Planned Purchase: T480s i5-8350 FHD Touch
Impulse Buy: Thinkpad not named for safety reasons
