200GB Hard Drives, When?

#1 Post by mfratt » Fri Sep 01, 2006 12:34 am

Does anyone have any ideas as to when 200GB Notebook hard drives will be available? 100GB just isnt enough for me, for despite have 850GB external storage, I want to be able to carry around 50GB of music and a handful of movies, as well as give my Linux partition more than 10gb of space.
If its gonna be a while, I might just get a 160GB, but I would really like to wait for the 200.

You can install a supplementary drive in your thinkpad getting rid of your DVD drive if you wish.

You don't have to. I currently have 2 drives in my thinkpad t42. There are special adapters that allow you to replace your DVD with a HDD

I believe that mfratt is refering to the X60s in his sig, which would require the base, since it doesn't have a built in bay.

According to this, Fujitsu will begin shipping pretty soon. I just wish that they had a PATA version, instead of SATA only.

True, but I think that the OP was looking for storage more so than speed....but, I could be wrong.
