where to buy battery, 3rd party vs oem
i've searched some other threads here, and have seen some suggestions for what they think are decent batteries when they first get them.
but what i don't ever hear is anyone chiming in who has had a 3rd party battery for a long enough time to know if it was just as good as an oem one.
anyone out there in the position to speak about that?
it also seems like there are genuine oem batteries on ebay, coming from china.
are those not always reliable?
thanks,

Perhaps the conspicuous by its absence is a testimony by itself.
Or those owners are just too happy and busy to talk about it.
Cheers.

Re: where to buy battery, 3rd party vs oem
I had an aftermarket 6 cell in my T60 and it worked great for a year before I sold the computer. Have an aftermarket 4 cell in my dads X40 and it's been working great now for almost 2 years. Plus that has heavy use at work.
The only downfall I have seen with aftermarket packs, is sometimes the casing may not be 100% like the original and may fit tight or loose. Which kind of sucks because it's definitely nice to have a proper fitting pack.
One issue I have run into with one pack, was that when it got cold it didn't work too well at all. Now almost all batteries will do this, the cold really drops the power output, however, this specific pack would get bad at a temperature an OEM pack would still work fine. I would say, around 45'F and this aftermarket pack couldn't even start the computer, whereas the OEM pack (that was almost dead too) could still start the computer and get it running.
YMMV with different manufacturers. Try to buy locally if you can I would say.

Mind to share at what prices did you get your 3rd-party modules...? Could be a good information.
Cheers.

Re: where to buy battery, 3rd party vs oem
thanks for responses,
to me one year of use isnt worth it,
i'd rather have something that lasts.
i saw third party batteries ranging from $30 to $100 for 9 cell for my t60p.
i have heard about bad fits, thanks for the info.
someone in another thread somewhere posted that he could not tell the difference between his oem and the one from intelligentbatteries.com, the fit was good, but i still would wonder how it was more than a yr later.
what about oem batts from ebay from sellers in china, or US sellers?
i think amazon also as US sellers claiming to have oems.
they are half price as direct from lenovo...

Lenovo Outlet periodically puts batteries on sale at decent prices.
If you are interested, you need to constantly check their site, as the batteries are on sale for as short as a couple days, then they are gone from the site.
