0271 Clock Error on Start Up after Reflash with 1vyrain

#1 Post by E350 » Fri Sep 02, 2022 3:18 pm

I successfully reflashed a X230T with ivyprep and then 1vyrain.

Although the laptop works fine, on start up, it presents a 0271 Clock error. After restarting a couple of times by pressing ESC, the laptop starts normally. But it is annoying.

I have gone into BIOS, including the Advanced tab and there is no place to correct/adjust the time.

And suggestions for ridding the laptop of the error?

If you get it to boot set the time from an OS.

@tpfanatic et al.

I have two X230T

I have set the time in Windows 11 operating system on the X230T which starts with the 0271 real time clock error. It does not fix the problem. Rather, I have to [ESC] and then usually it starts booting Windows 11. But it is irritating to start it this way everytime.

I assured that the setting in BIOS were the same for the X230T with the problem as they were with the X30T which has no problem.

The BIOS settings are now identical and the problem persists.

Incidentally, the Dates under the Main screen in BIOS are identical "1919-9-25"

So any other suggestions to fix the problem?

Could I have done something different when I reflashed ivyprep and 1vyrain on the X230T with the problem?

With these sorts of developments the reality is you will likely have to figure things out for yourself as you are your own support. I had a very limited and individual experience with 1vyrain, in that I flashed it in Ubuntu using Skulls from a Corebooted machine, to get back to a stock-style BIOS.

After the 1vyrain flash, I could not set the clock because the 1vyrain developers decided an Advanced tab of ways to brick your machine is more important than the ability to set the darn clock. They say once you get into an OS you can set the time within there and it should stick, which it did for me once I rebooted into Ubuntu.

I don't know if Windows 11 is a factor in your problem. My only experience with Windows 11 was formatting it away.

If it keeps giving you grief I'd recommend enjoying the Lenovo BIOS.

Good luck!

Booting into BIOS without HDD/SSD (i.e. without that stupid W11) should let you in.
I have flashed ivyprep/1vyrain without any problems.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)
But I actually prefer Murphy's from Cork!
