I had a a/b/g card installed in my T40 today, but I'm less than impressed with the reception. Our network is an Apple AirPort Extreme with transmits b/g. Even now, I'm about 3' from the transmitter, the Signal Strength is reading low. Our 5 y/o PowerBook Pismo reads a consistant max reception within a 100' radius. My son's PowerBook reads 4/5. As you might have guessed, I'm new to ThinkPads. Any suggestions as to how I can boost my T40's signal reception.
Thanks,
JH

If you're 3ft away from the transmitter and getting a low signal, whoever installed it probably mis-connected the antenna leads when installing the wifi card. You should remove the palmrest and verify...

Something must be wrong. The T4x antennas are among the best out there, and I've had no problems getting free WiFi even out in the suburbs where houses are far apart!
