ThinkPad T60p Won’t Turn On
I’ve been using my T60p for about 3 years straight now, almost everyday, I went to turn it on today and nothing happens. No battery, no charging or power light, absolutely nothing from the machine...
Any ideas?

Remove the battery, unplug the power adapter, press the "power" button and hold it for 30 seconds before releasing it.
Plug the adapter back in and try to power on again.
Good luck.

Re: ThinkPad T60p Won’t Turn On
If your ThinkPad T60p has a similar issue as my ThinkPad T60 then you are just in luck on powering on your ThinkPad. For ~3 years my ThinkPad T60 would not power with the AC adapter plugged in and I tried the various methods like removing all sources of power (including the AC adapter) then holding the power button for 30 seconds and reconnecting the AC adapter to power on the machine. However, this as well as many other methods have NOT worked and I have asked forum members on the Lenovo forums about this issue and most of the forum members said that my ThinkPad T60's system board was most likely dead and needs to be replaced. I was close to accepting that my ThinkPad T60 was dead until I recently ordered and received a used genuine Lenovo battery from eBay. When I plugged in the battery and did not connect the AC adapter, my ThinkPad T60 powered right up and before this point I had never powered on my ThinkPad with a battery because I lost it many years ago and having the ThinkPad plugged in all day using the AC adapter as a power source worked fine until 2018 when the machine would not power on.
Nevertheless, try to power on your ThinkPad T60p with the battery connected (as your only power source) and do not connect the AC adapter until you have successfully powered on the machine. If you don't have a battery for you ThinkPad T60p or your battery is unable to hold a charge then I would highly recommend you purchase a battery whether a used genuine lenovo battery or a third-party battery from eBay.
I hope you're successful in powering on your ThinkPad T60p as I was with my ThinkPad T60.

Re: ThinkPad T60p Won’t Turn On
An other interesting issue specifically on the T60 (I don't know whether there are other models affected by this same bug) is that with a dead battery the system keeps freezing just a few seconds into booting up. I have had two machines like this, sold as faulty, and in both cases the actual laptops were fine, it was the dead batteries, that caused this unusual behaviour.DL_Xeon2007 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 18, 2021 9:11 amIf your ThinkPad T60p has a similar issue as my ThinkPad T60 then you are just in luck on powering on your ThinkPad. Zoltan - Yes, T60's are very fussy about having a healthy battery (and can be made to freeze by a mouse fart).
