My T440s has a small crack outside of the viewable area of the screen on the touch screen digitizer. It is only a cosmetic issue; except unless I disable the touchscreen in device manager the cursor floats around the screen and has phantom clicks, so its near impossible to do tasks like re-installing an OS.
I have 04X5379 which is made by "Victory Digital Display". It always has looked blurry/fuzzy/hazy compared to the IPS on my x220 or even the TN panel from my old T400.
Three questions:
1. Is it possible to replace just the digitizer and keep the current screen? Do things need to be heated up/unglued at great risk of damage, or is it relatively easy?
2. Is there a way to disable the touch digitizer in hardware - like unplugging a ribbon cable or some other hack?
3. If I need to replace the screen + digitizer together - are any of the other FRUs better quality (x220 LG IPS for reference)?

Re: T440s - cracked digitizer
Don't know if you can separate the digitiser or just replace it.
If you do away with touch (which I would recommend), you can buy many FHD screens, such as:
B140HAN01.3, B140HAN01.1, B140HAN01.2, LP140WF4-SPA1, N140HCE-EN1 and others.
However, for non-touch you also need another lid, eDP cable and camera-cable.
Get the T440s partslist here: https://download.lenovo.com/parts/Think ... 150520.pdf
Before you do anything, remove power and disconnect both batteries.

Re: T440s - cracked digitizer
Thanks!
I have 00HM075 \ 04X5379- Victory Digital Display on this laptop.
It seems a lot more economical to replace the touch LCD than to convert this into a non-touch laptop.
Do all of the touch options on t440s/t450s lack crispness, or is it only the "Victory Digital Display" screen which has this? Is it caused by the digitizer/glass on top, or just a junk screen underneath?
Would it be much better if I replaced with MF0490 (AU optronics B140HAN01.2)?
