Model number or?

Today I am buying the X41 and I just got the model number from the store where I play to buy it. It is "US265CD". When I was buying the T43 I also got something like that... What is the difference between this model number and that another which is written on the back of the ThinkPad (XXXX-XXX, ex. 2686-DGU)? Where I can type this model number (US265CD) to check exactly the X41 components?
T43 2668-F5G 15" 1.86GHz 512MB 60GB
