I like the "ask me what to do" option ... but I remember test-driving a laptop (brand name omitted to protect the innocent) at a store, trying to type a few sentences in Word, then wanting to ignore a msgbox, and hitting the ESC key ... whoops! the ESC key was right next to the power button, and they were the same size. Off goes the laptop, end of test-drive, David walked away with a smirk.
Granted, IBM has better placement of the power button. But in such circumstances, disabling the button can be a Good Thing. Now if I could only remove the "standby" option from Windows' usual Shutdown drop list....

Start the Registry Editor (go to Start, Run and type Regedt32). Find the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ACPI\Parameters. Click in the right pane and create a new REG_DWORD value. Give it the name Attributes. Set the value to 00000070.
After reboot, Standby is unavailable.

Neat trick.... I tried it, thanks.
But it also removes it as an option in the Power Options Advanced tab ... so you can't have Standby automagically happen on closing the lid, or pressing the power button, or anything. Likewise, the FN + F4 feature doesn't work, though Power Manager still thinks that the Suspend action is available.
Basically, that hack removes the ability to suspend, not just the menu option on the Shutdown dialog. In all, neat if you never, EVER suspend your Thinkpad, but otherwise, a "baby with the bathwater" hack.
