I'm using ActiveSync 3.8 to connect through IR with my Jornada 680e. After searching for the device, it tells me that IR is not installed- I checked in the thinkpad config, as well as in bios, and it is installed. Initially it was disabled in bios, but enabled in thinkpad config, but changing that didnt fix it.
There are numerous settings for IR, but I've never had to change them for any system to connect to any device. I've tried AS 4.0 with the same results, anything newer doesn't work with my device. Any ideas?
edit: I have synced up before with IR with no problems- I did a restore on my R40 and now it won't work- Nor will it work on the 570.

Try sending a file via IR to your PDA. Also, try doubleclicking the confusingly-named Wireless Link control panel, and enabling everything.
If that works, but still can't sync, ensure in AS (I won't go to 4.0, heard too many complaints and warnings; 3.8.0's good enough for me) that in Connection Settings, you have the "IR enabled or COM port" option checked (selected) AND that IR Port is selected in the drop down. Easy to over look when uninstalling and reinstalling ActiveStync.
