6-cell or 9-cell battery?

#1 Post by jkozlow3 » Sun Nov 26, 2006 5:45 pm

Should I order the 6-cell or 9-cell battery for a Z61M? The 9-cell is only $30-40 more, but is it an eyesore sticking out the back? If it's going to look ridiculous, I'd prefer a slightly shorter battery life.

Anyone had both? Can you comment on looks/life differences?

Thanks!

I originally had a 9 cell with my t60 and hated it, to much extra weight, and to bulky, traded someone here straight across for a 6.

Considering the relatively heavy weight of the Z61m, you are going to use it mostly at home/work and keep it plugged in almost all the time, right? So there is no need to get an extended battery. Save some money, keep your laptop as light as possible, and as pretty as possible.

Yep...99% of the time I'm at home.

It would be nice to be able to watch an entire 2 hour DVD on it unplugged though if I'm on a plane - wonder if the 6-cell can handle that?

Why couldn't Lenovo have offered the Z61t with a standalone GPU?!?!?!? I'd like something slightly smaller/lighter than the Z61M, but I'm not willing to live with integrated graphics, as this is a desktop replacement and I'm trying to future-proof as much as possible.

It should be easily able to handle a 2 hour DVD on a plane ride as long as you don't take up too many resources with other tasks and peg the CPU at full load. :)
