Hi guys,
I'm thinking of giving my desktop computer the boot. However, I am not willing to trade the PCI sound card I have for my X31's onboard interface.
I came up with the brilliant, if somewhat obvious, scheme of putting the card in a dock.
I am wondering what is necessary for the laptop to recognize the PCI card after being plopped in the dock. If it's running, would it see it immediately? Or would it need a reboot? I guess my most common mode of use would be to come home with the laptop in standby-to-RAM, plop it in and wake it up - would it recognize the card then?
For what it's worth, I'm looking at dual-booting Ubuntu 7.04 and XP SP2, though I'd probably be spending most of the time in Ubuntu.
Thanks!
