Hi
I need some recommendation, for a thinkpad, I allready have 2 A31 that I realy like, no problems from one of them for the last 7 years.
first thought is to stay with IBM thinkpad, but not it is Lenovo, are they the same, will Lenovo stand the test of time?
I need something for numbers crunching, with no less than 1GB ram, and a DVD-rw and wireless network as a mini. requirements, what do I go for?
where would be a good outlet in Australia?
many thanks

Re: what to buy
I will not be buying a Lenovo made Thinkpad. Have you considered a T23? It was designed for business use and is easily upgradeable to 1GB RAM, a 5400RPM hard drive, two PCMCIA(PC) cards for an inexpensive wifi card & even cheaper USB 2.0 PC Card. I installed a used CD-RW\DVD in mine for under $40.ekdya wrote:Hi

I owned many top of the line expensive Notebooks over the years. My like-new, refurbished T23 is the first one I like. Cost? $325 two years ago from IBM-Lenovo.
As for test of time, I learned several years ago, the only way to buy a really well designed and made PC is to wait a few years and then buy one used. I haven't bought a brand new PC in eight years. Yet, visitors to my home office are impressed with my systems, all used & refurbished. My Dell XPS400 was in its last production year before it was clear that it is an unusual PC. I bought a return with free shipping, for a fraction of what they went for 6 months earlier. I am now looking to buy a loaded XPS410 for a fraction of current sale price, from the online Dell Outlet store.
