charging issues
charging issues
Greetings,
When I plug my power supply in the system still thinks it is on battery. the
battery icon stays on and no beep when I plug in. The system holds the
charge at the current percent. If I do a power down and the power back up it
will start charging but it still shows it is on battery power. Any ideas?
Darrell

After checking your Hardware Maintenance Manual (page 39):
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/mo ... 2p1902.pdf
It appears that it might be your system board.
If the system is still under warranty, I would contact IBM and have them replace it.

Not sure on you model but does it have a separate DC board where the PW/supply hooks into. This might have come loose or gone bad, from the pin socket attaching it to the M/board along with checking for a loose soder joint on the power plug-in. If not making a good conection it will not be able to give the nessesary wattage to run off of the outside power source and it will use the battery instead with it being charged at a reduced amount when it can. Check the IBM site for dissasembly instructionsdts wrote:thanks for your help. Replacing the board is what I suspected I was going to have to do. Do you know anywhere where I can get a refubished system board? I dont want to spend 5 or 6 hundred dollars on this machine.
