IBM Integrated Bluetooth II & SP2
It seems the MS BT driver for the IBM Integrated Bluetooth II adapter has become corrupt. I tried to find the driver itself but haven't had much luck. I'd really rather not have to reinstall SP2 just to get the drivers. Would anyone happen to know where or how else I might obtain another copy?

If your system is like mine, you ought to only need the IBM software. have you tried uninstalling the Bluetooth device, then install the IBM software?
Also, check a thread on Bluetooth and headsets, the installation instructions may be similar to what's needed on your box.

I did try to install the IBM software but I really do dislike the Widcomm software. After a few reboots the software did start seeing the device again. Don't know how but the drivers were corrupted. Once I deleted them all things started working again. I did uninstall the IBM software and reinstall XP SP2 which reinstalled the BT drivers. Functionality wise the MS drivers are more integrated.
For example if you want to tether using the Widcomm drivers you have to initialize the connection from within the My Bluetooth Neighborhood. With the MS BT Drivers you can allow you software automatically dial the connection. There are other differences too that make it easier to use the MS drivers over the Widcomm ones.

I'm 100% positive that the so-called Microsoft Windows XP SP2 drivers are the licensed Widcomm drivers (check out the driver details) so whichever you install you're stick with the widcomm
I do prefer the UI provided by the "Microsoft" bluetooth stack, even tho it doesn't offer as many features as the regular widcomm drivers.
To reinstall the BT driver -- right-click on My Computer on desktop, select Manage, then select Devices in the tree and delete everything associated with the Bluetooth, then just search for new devices.
If that doesn't help, the guide to the complete MS BT Stack removal can be found here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.as ... -us;889814

I actually did do that without success. Like I said the drivers became corrupt. When Windows would try to install the BT adter it would only install it as an unknown USB device. I would then try to tell it what it was and Windows would say that the device was not installed properly.stangri wrote:I'm 100% positive that the so-called Microsoft Windows XP SP2 drivers are the licensed Widcomm drivers (check out the driver details) so whichever you install you're stick with the widcomm

Not sure if there's an option for that -- but maybe reinstall Service Pack 2 or just download it from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sp2/default.mspx and run installation again (that's in case that you really believe that the driver files had become corrupt, hopefully they'll be overwritten)?
Sorry I can't be of much assistance.
