Bios Update: Removal of Power on Password?

Bios 1.05: "Remove the Power-on password prior to updating the BIOS in RDM (Remote Deployment Manager) environment or similar environment. "

Does this mean that before the update one should remove the "normal" power on passord? What means "RDM environment"?
