I just started to use my X60s for some gaming, I have installed Civilization IV and played a few hours, I noticed the CPU is getting very hot , so as the GPU, the CPU is around 70C and GPU is around 65 C, as reported by TPfancontrol. I would think it is a bit too high. If I use it for browsing etc the CPU settles at around 45C.
What is your temp reading for gaming etc ?
Thanks

X60s overheating with 3D app ?
you have the same opinion as of my mumsurg wrote:Did not try gaming for a prolonged period, sorry. Did you have TPfancontrol active or have you been in bios mode? Probably you had suboptimal settings applied for heavy use.

I know on the T42, you can set the fan to level 64 and it will go even faster. However, I have heard that since this is not an "official" setting, you may risk damaging the fan.MIB wrote:you have the same opinion as of my mumsurg wrote:Did not try gaming for a prolonged period, sorry. I wish I can make the fan spin faster, as even at level 7 the noise is very low.
