Do all recent ThinkPads take PS/2 mouse?

Hi,

I'm about to be loaned a ThinkPad so I can work at home. My client doesn't yet know what model I'll get, but it won't be more than a couple of years old.

I already have an unused KVM switch with PS/2 connectors, so I'll be able to use it if the ThinkPad has a PS/2 connector. Is there any recent model that doesn't use PS/2?

(And I've also got a keyboard/mouse splitter from an old ThinkPad in case they're still forcing the one connector to do double duty.)

No recent model of thinkpads has PS/2 port on the machine itself.

Yup; you can try a USB converter or a dock if you want PS/2 abilities.

Na, it doesnt work
My X20 recently bought a USB>PS2 convertor
Both a ordinary ps2 keyboard and mouse which worked fine on my desktop, failed to work on X20
Also , using the convertor, pluging it on the USB port of my Desktop cannt use the keyboard and mouse

Seems that not all ps2 device support using through USB....
Sigh... wasted $17HKD to buy the convertor( USD$2)

So, Dock seems to be the most expensive and most likely to be the possible solution of this sticky stuff

you will need a docking station. There is no PS/2 port on the T4x machines themselves. - only on the docking station.

Ever wish they still had the old port replicator sticks, like on the 701c? They just plugged into the back and gave you many more ports (2 PS/2s included) for the size penalty of a T4X 9-Cell battery protrusion.

Maybe you just got a poor quality converter (and if I'm reading right and all it cost you was $2US, it's a definite possibility). My Labtec wireless keyboard/mouse has a PS/2 interface and the dual USB-PS/2 adapter I have works just fine - can't remember the price, but it was about $15AUD

Not all USB mice with work with a USB->PS2 converter. The mouse has to be programmed from the factory with some extra "logic" for the converter to work correctly. Try using your "great" converter with some random PS2 mice you can find at your place of employment. Chances are you'll find one that won't work. So it isn't just a matter of having the correct converter

I carry a PS/2 to USB converter around with me as I often have to use whatever keyboard and/or mouse I can find out in the field, and that usually means the PS/2 connector ones that are lying around because no one else wants them anymore. I've used a very diverse range of PS/2 mice and keyboards without any problems.
