X60 LCD brightness settings
X60 LCD brightness settings
When my X60 boots up, the screen brightness is automatically reset to its max level, no matter where I set it the last time I used the unit. Is there a way to get it to remain at your preferred settings? Changing the LCD display mode between normal and high had no effect.
Re: X60 LCD brightness settings
My X60 can actually remember the previous lightness level... but only to the stage *before* logging on to the Windows. Once logged on, it'll use the brightness set in Power Profile. e.g. maximum brightness if I'm using "ThinkPad Default" with AC connected.Bert09 wrote:When my X60 boots up, the screen brightness is automatically reset to its max level, no matter where I set it the last time I used the unit. Once I changed it to "Maximum Battery Life", the screen dims and after reboot, the screen is still dimmed.
So, choose a power scheme to control the default brightness. Or you can create your own scheme.
Press F1 during boot up to enter the BIOS setup. Go to display and change the setting to bright from the default.
This works perfectly and insures that if you are running on battery power you will still have maximum brightness, just like running while plugged in.

I actually own x60s but i guess that lcd brightness isuess are he same.
I recently changed the default settings in BIOS from Normal to High brightness, enabling me to view my screen normally outdoors as well.
I would like to know however, if this setting (max. brightness when on battery) harms the battery in any way (except for shorter battery time obviously).
I also have another question for which i don't even know how to form properly for you to understand
... which level of brightness prior to changing the setting in bios does this setting (max setting) correspond/equals to. (e.g. level 7/7 prior to bios change to high equals 5/7 after changing setting in bios to high brightness).
Thank you very much for these answers in advance.
Cheers
