How to change Standby states? (S1,S2,etc.)
How to change Standby states? (S1,S2,etc.)
According to the ACPI Wiki, there are different Standby states in which we could set (S1 through S4). What I am trying to do is set my Thinkpad to turn on from "Standby" state when I hit any key on my keyboard or mouse to resume it, rather than just having it resume only when I hit the Power button. I believe that this feature is enabled if I change the Standby state. However, I am having trouble finding and accessing this option to change on the Thinkpad. I believe on my older HP laptop, I was able to change this in the BIOS. I don't see this option on the Thinkpad BIOS though. Any ideas?

Not sure if the option you are talking about exists in any TP BIOS. However, I do know that you can wake up the system from the standby state by pressing the Fn key instead of the power button. I do this every day when I get back into work. I put my A31 into standby with the Fn+F4 combination at night and resume where I've left off by hitting the Fn key.

The i1210 I used to have would wake up with the press of any key but all other ThinkPads I've used woke up with FN key, power switch or lid opening.
