Fierfox 2.0 - can't log on Thinkpads??

#1 Post by dorronto » Thu Nov 23, 2006 10:17 am

Any idea's about this. My new R51 can't log on Firefox 2.0. I'm using Explorer 7 now. When I try to log on, I fill in my username and password, click submit and it goes right back to the username! My username and password are not in the fields anymore! What's happening? My security options are the same as in my other laptop, and I can log on with no problems........

Any help with this would be appreciated..

Thanks,
Ron

I'm still looking for an answer. I even downgraded to Firefox 1.5, and I still have problems logging on to the forum. No problem with Explorer 7.

Any ideas? I really rather not use Explorer if I have to.....

You may want to check your cookie settings. If your firefox is not set to remembers, you then cannot log on to this forum.

I would complete uninstall firefox, then move the following folder:

c:\document and settings\YOUR USER NAME\application data\morzilla\

to somewhere else.

Then reinstall firefox. If that doesnot work, your hard drive might have a problem or you may have virus.

Just a suggestion here for an experiment. I am using FF vers 2 right now and I am logged into this forum with no problem. I have it set to remember my username and password so all I do is get onto this site and I am logged in.

However, FF has an add-on you can download called the IE TAB which I have done, since two of my regular sites require IE for use. I click on the IE TAB and open up my designated site and it is fine. Have you tried that TAB to see if it will log you on even though you are using the FF browser. Just curious. As suggested, check your Privacy and Security tabs under Options (under Tools) to see if you have checked to accept cookies for username and password. Also under Tools is an Error Console that shows FF errors, check that and see what it says.

Good luck

Thanks..

The cookie idea gave me an idea about the cookies!!

I deleted all my cookies and started brand new. So far, I keep logged on, without re-entering my username and password. Keep your fingers crossed.

Thanks again for the ideas,
Ron

Hey great! I regularly clear my cookies (TOOLS - CLEAR PRIVATE DATA, be sure cookies and saved passwords are checked) about once a week in FF; I'll bet that was it, maybe expired cookies.
