My Nokia 19 monitor was like $2,500 when I bought in '00 or so! Now this is a bummer, consider I don't even use it !!

That's the most shocking thing I have ever heard! Today, you can buy two 30" LCD monitors with that money!

Through the Wayback Machine, I am looking at the Dell website the way it was on 5 Apr 2001. They had a 15" Sony LCD monitor on sale for $689.95, and a 21" NEC monitor for $5,645.95!!!

Just think what a 1GB memory module would cost today at 1998 prices? I looked at Crucial.com in 1998 and a 128MB PC100 module ran $400!

How about a 330 MB (yes, MB) Micropolis ESDI (!) disk for $3000? I bought one of those back around 1989 or so. Could have had SCSI for the same price ...

I did find the SCSI version on eBay. Alas, it looks like they weren't a really good investment, as it has gone from $3000 to $10 and there are still no bidders!

I can barely remember the first time I came across one of those things while taking apart older PCs...A PS/2 I had came with almost that same ESDI HDD in it, I think it was a Model 80/8580 (Still one of the heaviest PC computers I have come across) and another one in a generic clone of a PS/2 model 50 with simply the black faceplate on it.

I used to actually have one of these too. Heavy doesn't do it justice.

That's what I used to think when I first saw a 3.5" hard disk (1.6" think back then)!

The P75 is very cool. I remember when they were new and incredibly expensive!

My first computer was a "portable" as well -- about the same weight as the P75, but considerably less powerful ...
