Two week old ThinkPad X60 tablet battery bites it! help!

#1 Post by camkego » Thu Jan 11, 2007 6:17 pm

I'm wondering if anyone here has any suggestions for me.

I have a two-week-old
X60T which I bought direct from Lenovo.

My first problem was that one of the 512 MB RAM modules went bad,
but I had planned an upgrading to 2 GB anyway, so
it wasn't a total loss.

But what I really want to ask board members about is
about my battery.
I left the system plugged into the charger
without the charger being plugged into the wall,
and now the battery won't hold any charge,
it shows 0% charged on the desk bar display,
and when I click on the desk bar display it says:
"0% remaining, irreparable damage to the battery has
been detected. Replace the battery with a new one."]-

Was leaving the battery in the laptop plugged into the charger
without the charger being on the wall the cause of this?
Will Lenovo replace the battery?
(this is a two week old system, I purchased 12/16/06, and received
12/27/06)

According to the Power manager, the battery is:
mfg: sanyo
mfg date: 2006-12-04
barcoding num: 1ZC0F6C414U
FRU: 42T5204

Thank you for any help or feedback

I do it every night, on purpose (to be 100% certain that my Thinkpad won't get hit by lightning), and my battery is still fine.

Definitely. You should also tell them about the defective 512MB module, and I bet they will replace that too.
