New tablet, display screwy -- screen? or video cable?

Just got done loading up applications and transferring documents to my new X60t (6363 ADU, XPSP2, SXGA+). Nice machine. wish it was a little lighter, but generally favorable impressions. All of one week old.

Imagine my surprise (& frustration) when the next day, upon startup the bottom ~1/3 of the display is streaked with vertical stripes.

No trauma. No accidentally dropping of the laptop. Just opening up the laptop and pushing the power button.

Is this a screen issue? or a display cable issue? easy fix? I'm guessing I have to send it in to the depot for repair. Any insight as to how quickly this will be dealt with given the supply/parts issues Lenovo has been having of late?

Specific advice or experiences appreciated. Thanks.
