PCMCIA card it is!
Will this help if l hook it up to DSL verizon? And should l go with a b or a g model?
Hello, I use Verizon DSL also and bought my modem/router from them. It is also wireless so it broadcasts wifi. If your 600x has a combo modem/ethernet setup, then you can hardwire the laptop to your DSL modem and not worry about using a wireless card. If you want both capabilities, then get the (I suggest) Verizon modem/wireless router and you can both hardwire the laptop at your modem site, or if you want to wander the house, put a wireless card into the laptop (PCMCIA slot) and use it wirelessly. My router is only a/b wireless, not g.

I'm not sure if you'll get true G from a pcmcia in a 600X. that being said if you want wireless than get the wireless router (which usually functions as both, even if there is only one ethernet port out you can still create a wired network with this by using that port into a small hub/switch the modem will act as a dhcp server) and forget the hardwire, what's the purpose of both unless you have a specific need for a hard wired connection, that will not (hopefully) lose connectivity for downloading programs or critical updates.
my Actiontech modem/router is a hardwired router with 4 ethernet ports and also has an antennae for wifi. I hardwire my laptop to it when it is at my desk; but I have taken the laptop outside with my PC card in it, and also use the wifi for my Dell Axim PDA; it just gives you more options and no need for a hub.
