Ultrabay slim DVD-ROM external case?
Ultrabay slim DVD-ROM external case?
I've seen the slim external enclosures with the USB 2.0 connection that will fit an Ultrabay 2000 DVD-ROM but how about an Ultrabay slim external enclosure? Do these exist?
Yes, they do exist.

I couldn't find specs on those enclosures but those do not look like they will properly fit the smaller Ultrabay Slim drives.
Just to be clear:
Ultrabay Slim drives are smaller than Ultrabay 2000 drives which are standard notebook size. Ultrabay Slim drives will not fit the standard notebook size external enclosures out there.

There used to be such an adapter, but it is difficult to find them anymore. You can try here:

They are lenovo partners for old parts and accesories, and have some old parts when I saw them last.

Not adapters, talking about the existence of a USB 2.0 external enclosure for a T40 ultraslim drive. T40 UltraSlim drives are thinner than the standard notebook drives so external enclosures for standard notebook drives are too BIG for a T40 slim drive.
Edit: look at the links in the 2nd post. Notebook external enclosures but they are for standard notebook drives and are too big for a T40 Ultraslim DVD-Rom.

Well, the idea with the adapter is to put the drive into the adapter (i.e. convert it to an Ultrabay 2000 format) and put the whole into a standard slim enclosure, which I linked above.
I know, it's not the optimal setup.
