Anyone using Vista x64 on new c2d x60 tablet?
Anyone using Vista x64 on new c2d x60 tablet?
How do you like it?
Any noticeable difference(s)?
How was the install process? Drivers available/working for Vista x64?
My pad should be here soon (hopefully) and I'm looking forward to installing Vista Ultimate x64 on it. Just curious how you guys like it.

That's correct. And both the Santa Rosa and the current Napa chipsets support 64-bit operation with the Core 2 Duo (or Core 2 Solo) processors. The key difference for 64-bit is that Napa is effectively limited to 3 GB of addressable memory, whereas Santa Rosa supports 4 GB+ with a 64-bit OS.

So I got my pad and now waiting for 1 gig stick which should come today. I'm torn between installing Vista 64 Ultimate or it's 32 brethren. Anyone have any benchmarks links that shows one is better (or same/worse). Since office 2007 is 32 bit and the lack of proper antivirus/firewall support, I'm leaning towards Vista x32. But feel like it's sorta of a waste of a nice 64 bit chip (or more correctly a chip supporting EM64T).

This is what I know:ymarker wrote:. Anyone have any benchmarks links that shows one is better (or same/worse).
1. L7400 is a 64-bit processor that can run a 64-bit operating system.
2. The X60t only ships with Vista Business 32-bit version. You'd have to find another vista disc with both version around (any disk that is not factory installed should have both version) to install it.
3. Benchmarks on XP 64-bit vs XP 32-bit show a performance gain of around 10%, depedning on the application. Some 32-bit programs can actually run slower. Also, older 16bit programs may not be able to run at all. On certain programs, especially ones like CAD and rendering that take advantage of 64-bits, running in 64-bit can improve performance even more significantly.
This is what I don't know:
1. Will your pin (or whatever Microsoft uses now for security) work for a 64-bit version of Vista.
2. Are there 64-bit drivers for the x60t
I bought the L7400 with the hopes that I could the install 64-bit version version since I will be using 64-bit programs. If anyone makes progress on this, please share.
