Ultrabay Slim to USB 2 Adaptor
Ultrabay Slim to USB 2 Adaptor
Has anyone ever seen an adaptor that has a usb plug on on end (to plug into a computer) and a plug that will fit into the butt-end of an Ultrabay Slim device (like a DVD multiburner)? I'm basically wondering if I have to buy an external DVD burner (or the X6 base) or if I can connect my Ultrabay Slim DVD multiburner to my x60s somehow without the base. Thanks.

Why not just purchase an aftermarket, external USB DVD recorder rather than bothering with the Ultrabay one?

Well, that's what I'm going to do if I can't find some sort of adapter. But since I already have an ultrabay dvd burner...tamasrepus wrote:Why not just purchase an aftermarket, external USB DVD recorded rather than bothering with the Ultrabay one?

Does this have a connector that matches your connector?efrant wrote:Has anyone ever seen an adaptor that has a usb plug on on end (to plug into a computer) and a plug that will fit into the butt-end of an Ultrabay Slim device (like a DVD multiburner)?

The Ultrabay uses it's own, proprietary connector.smvp6459 wrote:Does this have a connector that matches your connector?

Maybe it's possible to remove the drive from the bay housing? The Ultrabay uses it's own, proprietary connector.
Re: Ultrabay Slim to USB 2 Adaptor
That wouldnt work for me, as the only reason I'm asking this question, is that I have a DVD-RW for my t60p, and just wanted to know if I could somehow connect it to my x60s. But I don't want to disassemble it, as I still want it for my t60p...smvp6459 wrote:Maybe it's possible to remove the drive from the bay housing? The Ultrabay uses it's own, proprietary connector.
I just use a internal IDE DVD-RW from my desktop computer at the moment (via USB) to transfer files from CD/DVD's, but I would like a portable, slim, usb-bus-powered solution to carry around with me.

Your best shot would be an Ultrabay 2000 to USB adapter (if you still can find one, those devices were put out of shops quite a long while ago) and a Ultrabay Slim to Ultrabay 2000 adapter.
But I fear it might be limited to USB 1.1 speed
