Hi you all!
If you want to use the Logitech MX900 mouse with your Thinkpad without the external USB-Hub, here's a little guide how to do it.
Be sure to use the IBM Integrated Bluettoth II driver instead of the Microsoft one, provided with SP2. I hope the names are right, since I'm using a german Windows XP.
Right click on "My Computer" > properties> hardware> device manager:
Choose "Bluetooth devices" > IBM Integrated Blutooth II > right click: update driver > choose own driver > from the displayed two drivers choose the one which isn't digitally signed. click ok when the warning appears and let the driver install. After the driver is ready, connect the mouse via bluetooth.
now connecting the mouse:
plug in the external hub and let windows install it. Put in the Logitech driver CD but cancel the autoplay. Open the CD in the Windows explorer, search for a folder named "1-KE", open it and run the setup.exe.
Begin the installation normally but stop when the window with the licence ageement appears. Now unplug the hub and resume and finish the installation. Restart your Thinkpad and use the mouse without the hub.
I hope I could help and this guide will work for you!
regards,

sounds great and all but can you do the same thing with other bluetooth mice (run them without their recievers)?
i have an mx700, and an mx1000, i dont really feel like getting a 900 too, but that does sound cool to run it without the base (well idk though, when and how do you charge the battery if you dont have the base with you?)

Hi,
I don't know if it's possible with other mice, since this is my first bluetooth mouse. But I think it shouldn't be impossible.
When I'm not at home I always have two pairs of fully charged batteries with me for the case the ones in the mouse run empty.
I also put a little piece of stronger paper between the head of one battery and the curcuit receiving plate, so the mouse is switched off, when transported. (see pictures)

ah, ok, you just put the paper there to turn it off. in the mx1000 there is an individual on/off switch on the bottom of the unit that i love to use.
