Hi,
I am pretty pleased with my W510 however I have come across something that I cannot quite get to the bottom of.
When I copy large files 4+ GB or a bunch of files resulting in several GB's getting transferred at high-speed from my server the network card tends to get disconnected. I then have to disable/enable the network card in order to get it back online. It was way worse when I had "Flow Control" enabled on the netcard and I thought that initially fixed it but while copying several virtual machine files from my server to my laptop it happened again.
I Run Windows 7 Ultimate and have upgraded all drivers to the latest versions using the "System Update" lenovo tool.
Any ideas on why this happens?
/Christian
P.S. I have also uninstalled Access Connections - but that didn't make any difference.
Take a look at our

Re: copy large files from network makes nic fail
Are you connected to a GbE switch? Does the switch lose the link light as well?
If your server has an unused NIC port, it would be interesting to see if it would do it directly connected to the server. 1GbE should auto crossover.

The light is on for both the switch and computer but software shows as disconnected. You are correct that testing this with less "interfering" devices between the two machines would give a better picture of where the error might occur.
I'll do some more tests and get back but since no-one else has this problem I think this will not be an easy fix - had hoped it was

Ok. Thought I'd just put an end to this thread. I have done some testing at home and at the office and it seems like my L2 switch has some sort of bandwitdh cut-off or an error as this doesn't happen at the office. I copied between my laptop and a server on both locations (same type of servers) and I couldn't make it fail at work.monkeybagel wrote:Are you connected to a GbE switch? Thanks for putting me in the right direction
