X230 not going to sleep properly

#1 Post by rajm » Sat Jul 12, 2014 4:31 pm

I've had issues lately with my x230 not going to sleep fully when pressing fn-f4. The moon light on the top cover turns on and the power button is flashing, but the fan is still on and if I press mute, the orange LED turns on. The only way to get out is to hold the power button down and power cycle.

Please help!

This is often an issue with a driver, which prevents the machine from going to sleep properly.

If you wait long enough (perhaps 10-15 minutes), your machine should crash with a bluescreen and turn off. At that time, boot it up and check if a minidump was created in C:\Windows\Minidump. If so, check it by uploading it to www.osronline.com or by downloading BluescreenView. There is a chance it will tell you which driver is problematic.
