ThinkPad - is there a cure?

I been hooked on TPs since my 1st 701 butterfly keyboard I got for $10 at a Gov auction. I done all upgrades on it even motherboard also got another model same series and 2 docks plus mini dock and all accessories, then moved up to a T61 same way, then got a standby W500 fully loaded. have learned lots about them even issues and fixes. the W500 has one Lenovo/IBM should have recalled and fixed (as do similar models after the T61 series using similar case. they have a faster hotter PCU yet same air holes and controls as the T61s but they added fine screens in air intakes under it restricting the already limited air flow even more. so they tend to run very hot and shut down unless you either set Bios power settings to max performance and disable any OS control of cooling fan speed or install and run TPfancontrol version 0.61 or higher to keep fan running fast enough to stay under heat limit (93c, best lower than 70c even 55c most times like the T61 does) I have not yet tried removing the screens under laptop in its inlet air opennings but may later as they are not needed, my T61 does fine without them just blow or suck dust out every few months use and dont use in dirty environments or siting on soft items that block air. also an external fan base is handy to sit laptops on and Big lots sell them cheap. if not docked.dont listen to people that say these get air through keyboard etc. there are plastic seals under them to keep dirt/liquid out as much as possible. my 2 high paid IT sons always tease me about my TP addiction calling it Toilet Paper lol. their new junk never lasts or works as well as my TPs so ;^P my last 2 do more than their new desk tops even and most I paid for one is $200 used very good cond

Give your sons a T or W series thinkpad and I am pretty sure they will ditch their plastic craptops and/or aluminum junktops sooner than you can say "Ultrabook"

I have discovered other side effect of this disease - it is very infectious. I have suspected this before when my friends have moved (sometimes with my help) to black bento boxes. But last week one of my colleagues asked me about notebooks. He is 2 decades elder. He wanted one for his wife - small, light, simple and cheap. I tried to say 13" ultrabook - but it is overpriced for this usecase. And after i have showed him some of my collection (only for size and power comparision between netbook and ultraportable) i think he have stuck with X201.
Yes it is not as simple as crapbook (he can't find radio switch himself and become upset, but with some help all become better;).

Conclusions - try to control this disease or it can infect more normal people.

Couple weeks ago structure frame of my main Frankenpad have broken I have some more T60 for spare parts - so it is time rebuild it and repaste CPU #)

Unfortunately early T60 series had an weak spot in left hinge area - frame was too thin to withstand forces and tension generated by the hinge on screen opening. I do have few spare units aswell and one of these (UXGA T60p) has broken frame in that exact spot.

I have known about this weak spot, but before i thought that this fracture can happen because of drops or other roughly handling. But i certainly have felt how it have broken when i have tried to open lid to 160 deg (i haven't do this for year). I have felt how the tension increased after 120 deg and than... click:(

1 Hypothesis - left hinge become more tensioned (however small hinge play is still here) because of temperature after upgrading (frankenpadding) to T9500 + NVS140. If this is a true - more problems can occure on T9800 - T9900 - Quad core (more hot blooded) Frankenpads.

The main reason why the top-left corner of 15" T60 causes hinge-problems, is the fact that on the first chassis that corner was too poorly designed.
It breaks easily on the upper fan-side next to the VGA-port.
