Do you know of desktop monitors that permit 2560x1440 (QHD) via VGA?
While many 2560x1440 monitors have VGA ports, their VGA input is limited to 1920x1080. Only one or two models don't have this limitation, and I want to buy one of those. Yes, I am aware that image quality would be suboptimal, but for this particular usage that's a non-issue. If you know of a 24", 25" or 27" QHD monitor that permits 2560x1440 via VGA, would you tell me the model number? Thanks in advance for your help.

Just wondering, why not use a VGA adapter and set a custom QHD resolution?

Active VGA-to-HDMI converters support up to only 1080p. I bought one of these anyway, just for fun, and confirmed the 1080p limit.brchan wrote:Just wondering, why not use a VGA adapter and set a custom QHD resolution?
My Crossover 404K 40" UHD monitor allows 2560x1440 via VGA, but that's not its native resolution. I am looking to use VGA to drive a QHD monitor at its native resolution.

Won't the video quality get bad using VGA at that resolution?

What device are you using to output the VGA signal? You should be able to drive most 2560x1440 displays over VGA by lowering the output refresh rate to 30 or 40Hz.

Re: Do you know of desktop monitors that permit 2560x1440 (QHD) via VGA?
Thanks to a very helpful review by a customer named "Eirik F." on Newegg (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 4JH3ZB1065), I learned that the QHD2410R allows 2560x1440 via its VGA input. I bought it at a lower price on eBay, received it today, and as we speak my Panasonic CF-Y9 is driving it via VGA at 2560x1440 with 32-bit color and 59 Hz frequency.
See my opening post, where I mentioned that I don't care. Actually, the quality is much, much better than expected. Many people believe VGA gives poor video quality simply because they don't realize they need to push the "auto adjust" button on the monitor.Unknown_K wrote:Won't the video quality get bad using VGA at that resolution?
See my opening post, where I mentioned that the vast majority of 2560x1440 monitors have their VGA input intentionally crippled to 1920x1080, or 2048x1152 at most. Even my ancient ATI Radeon 7500 desktop video card's VGA output can drive my Crossover 404K monitor at 2560x1440, 32 bits and 59 Hz without any problem; I have never questioned the ability of VGA to do this. The difficult part is finding a monitor whose VGA input isn't crippled.erik wrote:What device are you using to output the VGA signal? VGA output quality varies between laptops; I had an X200s that producedWon't the video quality get bad using VGA at that resolution?
very poor quality VGA compared to cards in a PC.
