Latest BIOS for ThinkPad 760CD

#1 Post by hgoshev » Tue Dec 11, 2018 5:34 am

Hi, guys!

I have been trying to upgrade my ancient ThinkPad 760CD with a larger hard drive than the one it initially came with (1.2GB). I tried both a 4GB and a 6.4GB HDD. However, the new HDDs are not getting recognized in BIOS, and after boot, fdisk claims that there are no fixed disks present. I am thinking that I need to update the laptop's BIOS to the latest version, however I've been unable to find it anywhere! The link pointing to Lenovo's site (http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloa ... MIGR-59734) is no longer valid. I would really appreciate you help in this!

No this should be a limit with the drive controller itself. IDE had a few notable drive size limit problems over the years and your drive sizes fall right in. You should try Toshiba's OnTrack first and see if then it will recognize the drive.

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

Thank you for the help, guys! I created a boot disk with the file I downloaded (sytpg201.exe), then tried updating the BIOS, but got the following message: "The diskette in the default drive will not run on this system". Do you have any clue? :?
