Unable to acccess Lenovo Recovery Partition
Unable to acccess Lenovo Recovery Partition
My machine came with W7. Upgraded to W10. Need to go back to W7 due to hardware issues.
Lost W7 Product Key. Unable to access Lenovo Recovery Partition with W7. f11 does not work.
Is there any way I can access it? Do not have a USB stick. DVD does not work.
The Recovery Partitcion does show up in Windows Explorer

Re: Unable to acccess Lenovo Recovery Partition
Did you get to boot to your DVD and it didn't work or did it bypass the DVD and go right to the HDD. If it is the latter, then rapidly press F12 on boot and wait for a menu. Then select the DVD drive.

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

I was not clear. The DVD player does not work.Thinkpad4by3 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 27, 2019 3:48 pmDid you get to boot to your DVD and it didn't work or did it bypass the DVD and go right to the HDD. If it is the latter, then rapidly press F12 on boot and wait for a menu. Then select the DVD drive.
If I change the Boot order in the BIOS to the Recovery Partition would that work?

That would be a good thing to start with.

Re: Unable to acccess Lenovo Recovery Partition
Is there a way to do that? The Lenovo Recovery Partition is actually part of the C:.
I read somewhere it is possible to reinstate the F11 function to access the partition but not sure how.

Re: Unable to acccess Lenovo Recovery Partition
Ok I thought you found something.
Try this: boot the machine to W10, and click restart WHILE holding the shift key. Go to troubleshoot, then click OEM recovery. See if that works.

Are we talking about a Lenovo TP?
I don't think your recovery partition is there. It should show up under Disc Management.
If this is a Thinkpad, your COA is in the battery compartment.

Re: Unable to acccess Lenovo Recovery Partition
The Recovery Partition does sow up in Disk Management. If I right click on it and make it active will it boot to the Recovery?
When I click on it in Explorer there is nothing there. Is that normal?
I took the COA sticker off. It is lost.
Re: Unable to acccess Lenovo Recovery Partition
It might. Try it and see, you have nothing to lose. If it will boot to the recovery partition you shouldn't need the COA, it will recognize it automatically.
I've never had to boot from a recovery partition. I make a boot disc and backup and delete the partition.
