Interesting article. Surprise the Chinese or Russians haven't been blamed yet.

The real overseas country behind this that works with American intelligence is located in the Middle East.

Re: Talk about backdoors...
Actually the US and Germany were working together. The Washington Post broke the story and has more information.

Anyone want an Enigma for cheap?

You've got an additional cigar for your history knowledge, but let me put a little detail on that.cadillacmike68 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 02, 2020 11:26 pmAnyone want an Enigma for cheap?

Our mathematicians broke 3-rotor enigma in 1932 (so still a couple of years before WW2), with an active help from french patriot-general Gustave Bertrand. This was a crucial activity since lying in between the Soviet Russia and nazi Third Reich meant trouble. The thing is, by then 14-years-old country could not afford building a full deciphering automat (5-rotor; 3-rotor automat, "the bomb" has been actually constructed, but the nazi improved their enigma with fourth and fifth rotor before Munich Agreement). Allied with France and England our agentry shared their effects of work in August 1939, a month before nazi launched the attack.
All in all it was 3-axis invention. We broke that. French agents provided intel that made it possible. The British finished the job when Poland fell.
A bit of history overview. Sorry for going a bit out of the topic
