Hi all,
I've seen a few "high gain" internal antenna kits offered and was wondering if these are a "real" item and if so how much they affect reception.
Thanks,
Chris

More Information?
Do you have brand names, model names/numbers and web site/urls for these kits? It might be worth checking out.

Here is a link to an eBay auction:

I had a look at a Sansei website from Japan and didn't see these listed.
As it turns out, my T30 already has antennas installed, so I won't be needed to add them, but I was curious anyway.

High-Gain antennas for wireless routers work really good. You'll definitly notice stronger reception further away from the router. However, some people hook up high-gain antennas to a cable, then to a router or adapter card. Thats when performance gain is tricky to mesure. The cable is going to reduce performance; the longer the cable the worse it's going to perform. However it may be worth it if your hooking it up on the roof of your truck, where the extra height will boost performance.
For laptop users wanting to connect to hotspots, theres really not much you can do to improve the performance. 90% of hotspots use the 802.11b standard anyway. The built in antenna and it's location on the thinkpads are already a lot better then most other laptops.
