How to estimate a Sony Vaio for sell?
Hi, i got a nice Sony Vaio laptop with standard config. I would like to max specs (RAM 8Gb max + SSD) for sell it, but it's impossible to find another one on usual sites to compare how much i can ask for. The specs are good, ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 5145 Graphics, DDR3 capped at 8Gb, SATA drive (dunno if it's 3 or 6Gbit/s) nice screen at 1600 x 900 deep blue sea chassis and many other feature, like eSATA port, Expresscard....
To par with memory and SSD costs i was thinking at 140€ at least, what do you other people think?
EDIT:
Sorry, i was forgetting, also battery must be changed...
TIA

I googled based on the video card and this is a 1st or 2nd gen Intel laptop, clues include esata which tended to disappear around 3rd 4th gen.
Lets be realistic. A 10 yr old laptop with a dead battery?
Even if it was a Lenovo T410 510 420 520 what would you pay?
At best $200 usd?
Closer to $100 usd.
The parts arent even worth much really, 2 x 4gb of slow speed ddr3? a 240gb sata ssd? new post covid prices have slumped. Over here basic stuff like a wdc green 240gb is like $30 usd?
This is the sad reality of decade old h/w.

The cpu is a i3 330 socketed, i can spend 50-60€ in upgrades, aiming at 150€ to sell... Dunno.TonyJZX wrote:I googled based on the video card and this is a 1st or 2nd gen Intel laptop, clues include esata which tended to disappear around 3rd 4th gen.

Re: How to estimate a Sony Vaio for sell?
Probably best to sell as-is for whatever you can get for it. Investing in upgrades will not likely give a better net return. Only upgrade if you are going to use it and get some value out of the cost of upgrades.
Collection = T430 - T500 - R400 - X300 - T61 (14" WXGA+) - R61 (15" SXGA+) - T60 - X40 - T43p - T43 - T42p - A30P

I decided to give it to my sister-in-law, they fund the upgrades and use it connected to the TV for multimedia tasks.Neil wrote:Probably best to sell as-is for whatever you can get for it.
