Recommend a reliable IDE-usb adapter
What's everybody recommend for a reliable IDE-to-usb adapter?
I have had 4 already and it seems they all seem to "die" either in use or storage; seemingly after only a handful of weeks or months.
Of the offenders I've had, Vantec is the worst. I previously had 2 of their $35 "professional" sata/ IDE models that has since been discontinued. Recently replaced with their $16 consumer model and it died during the 1st transfer.
Recommendations appreciated,

These work for me:
eBay item number:
132545056273
It's a set of cables, power supply, etc, not a nice neat enclosure. For temporary use while transferring.

Brand names Sabrent and StarTech come to mind.
The IDE-adapters are available in USB2.0 and USB3.0.
Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-5-25-INC ... ast_sto_dp

Re: Recommend a reliable IDE-usb adapter
I've bought one of the generic ones on eBay (the all in one kind where it takes the mobile and desktop IDE as well as SATA, but only the mobile IDE has power) and actually it's still working after 5 years. Strange eh?
The fixed cable did stop working once but that's no problem for me as I just replace it with a broken microUSB charging cable that I snip off the microUSB end.

Re: Recommend a reliable IDE-usb adapter
I have a couple Sabrent enclosures. They work fine, but I think the ones I have will only take SATA drives, and the OP is looking for something that will take an IDE (PASA) drive. Sabrent DOES make IDE to USB 2.0 enclosures as per their web site, for both 2.5 and 3.5 drives.
That ebay item I mentioned, and I'm too lazy to put it in a URL, works for both 2.5 and 3.5 SATA or PATA drives. It's just not all neatly packed up in an enclosure.
