Could I still use a Thinkpad's DVD tray?

#1 Post by cultOfThinkpad » Fri Aug 12, 2022 8:41 am

As I'm hunting around for SSDs to install in my Thinkpad and now
settling to buy an mSATA as my primary drive while using a SATA one for storage,
I'm left wondering if I really need to replace the DVD-RW tray with a caddy adapter.

I know Linux can support disc drives but what about BSD systems like FreeBSD and OpenBSD?
If I keep the optical disk drive, it would save me a USB port I may otherwise use to plug in an external disc drive.
