I need to upgrade my old X220
I need to upgrade my old X220
What should I replace my old X220 i7 laptop with?
If I want a higher resolution then 1920x1080, is it possible with 13" screen?
I need at least 16 gb ram, very low power consumption and long battery life.
My setup today is
X220 upgraded to AC network card, 8 gb ram, 2 tb SSD drive and I do not want to go back to the same specs. It is a good laptop but way to hot, noisy fan and to slow cpu and low resolution screen and to short battery time. And not fully compatible with the latest Windows 10 version.
What should I buy in the same size or a little bit bigger. 13 inch is a perfect size, 14 inch is a litte to big. I want an X-serie laptop or something very similar.

Re: I need to upgrade my old X220
X390 is your starting point. 13.3 inch 1920x1080 screen, Windows 11 compatible.
Planned Purchase: T480s i5-8350 FHD Touch
Impulse Buy: Thinkpad not named for safety reasons
RIP: X220 4291-C91 X61 7676-A24 760XD-U9E

Re: I need to upgrade my old X220
I have found a used X390 here in Sweden.
https://reuseit.se/produkt/lenovo-thinkpad-x390/
But it is only twice as fast as my 12 years old X220.
https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/30 ... l-i7-2640M
I also prefer AMD but that is not so important.
Maybe it is a good choice, but a 1440p screen in 13 inch would be perfect, I guess it is not possible.
Any more suggestions?

The X390 is 5 years old also. I want something that I could use for another 10+ years
Re: I need to upgrade my old X220
The X13 and L13 can be had with AMD, but I think the X13 Intel offers a 2880x1800 OLED LCD.
ThinkPad L14 - 2.1GHz Ryzen 4650U | 16GB | 256GB | 14" FHD | Win11P
ProBook 470 G5 - 1.6GHz Core i5 | 16GB | 2.2TB | 17" FHD | Mint

Re: I need to upgrade my old X220
Don't think you have to limit yourself to 13"
A modern 14" laptop should be quite small sizewize compared to the x220/x230 depending on the model since the edges of modern laptop displays are much thinner from the edge the actual screen.
I have a Thinkpad Z16 which is 16" inch but its actually not wider than a old 15" 2015 macbook retina.
Do you have any budget constraints?

Re: I need to upgrade my old X220
14" has a substantially bigger footprint than X220, but the slimness of the modern ultrabook beats the chunky build of x220, which is why I bought a t470. Sticking with 14" is necessary if you want a DIMM slot or two.
