Yeah but why would you want or need that. Just them showing off cool looking tech? Maybe it makes more sense in a big TV. But why a laptop?
"Quick! How many buzz-words can we fit into one sentence?"The idea behind the ThinkBook Transparent Laptop design is that it allows users to integrate their physical environment into their digital work with the help of AI.

I would say: history repeats itself.
Thinkpad 755CDV with transparent screen already existed around 25 years ago!

Re: Lenovo finally did it, virtually zero contrast display
Well I am the proud owner of the Acer Iconia 6120, that quirky "laptop" from early 2011 that has two 14" 10 point multitouch touchscreens (using the then brand new Corning Gorilla Glass mind you), one of which on the bottom replacing the conventional keyboard. This looks like a modern incarnation of that really but a transparent top screen.
Just pointing out that Acer end up being an executive class kind of laptop that belong as showpieces to the richest bosses and support for it is virtually nonexistent. In reality that thing is a 14" laptop taking the space of a 15.6" footprint and weighs as much as a ThinkPad W520, features last gen arrandale vs the already available sandy bridge (thankfully upgradable to i7-640M) and no discrete graphics support, and features a 4 cell battery (cannot be extended due to the hinge literally surrounding it 360 degrees) that even with a rebuild with brand new 3500mah cells gave me like 2 hours 15 minutes of usage. And any form of driver support is really only available for windows 7 - when you find the driver disc iso lying around on the internet.

Re: Lenovo finally did it, virtually zero contrast display
I think it would be a fancy decorative piece.
Not necessarily the laptop would be useful, but the display itself in other iterations can be much more.
I feel it's a show off piece, proof of concept. Not much more.
Like the 755CV/CDV, wonder if it will be useful with the sunlight as it's backlight.
