Thinkpad G41 fx5200 mod?

#1 Post by Scrolls » Sat Aug 17, 2024 4:17 pm

Hello.

A few years ago I bought a GeForce FX Go5200 card for my G41 under the impression that all of them supported the upgrade out of the box, but there's no connector soldered to the board for it, just the blank pads. If I found a connector somehow or soldered it in would there be anything preventing it from working such as a bios lock or some sort of difference in power delivery? I've been sitting on this for a while and just recently had the time and money to get back into this old hardware.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

dGPU and iGPU have different chassis, incl. that iGPU has space for floppy drive while dGPU unit has a vent there.

I don't think this is at all possible, but I may take a glimpse to compare my both units from the inside.
Too many thinkpads not enough time!

I know this post is old but do you remember where you bought that card from?
