Performance comparison between T43p and G41
Performance comparison between T43p and G41
Does anyone have references to performance comparisons between the Mobile Pentium M (Dothan) chips used in the T43 and the Mobile Pentium 4 (Prescott) chips used in the G41s. I'm looking at T43 models that use the 750 or 760 chip (@1.86 and 2.00Mhz respectively) against G41 models that use the 538 or 548 (@3.20 or 3.33 Mhz).
I know that the Dothan chips have 2MB of L2 cache vs. 1 for the Prescott, but haven't seen how they stack up against each other otherwise.
Any pointers or references would be appreciated.

The 2.13 GHz P-M 770 compares favorably to the 3.6 GHz Pentium4 660 on most real-world benchmarks.
Have you ever used a G-series? They're HUGE. I'd avoid them just based on that, even if the CPU performs slightly better for what you're doing with it.

I suggest a 15" R50 series then, the R50p I believe is the most powerful and closest thing to desktop replacement after the A31p was withdrawn. It also uses P-M chips, which means it will be far cooler and more silent than the G. Also, G series mostly uses integrated memory graphics which is not even remotely useful for a proper desktop replacement. I really don't see IBM's reasoning on G series since the R series outclasses them in all aspects, including prices, while still being reasonably portable.GeneinCT wrote:Since I'm looking for a true Desktop replacement (only occasional portable use anticipated), the size/weight/battery life are a little less important.
760XL, 560, 560E, 570, 600, 600E, 600X, T20, T21, T23, T40, T41p, T42, X20, X23, X24, X31, X60s, X60T, X200s, X230, X250, P53s, X13. I should *really* get a cheaper hobby...
